Our Story:
FX Studios Opens
FX Studios opened its doors in 2004 as a cinematic salon and spa in Hunt Valley, MD. This salon was its only kind in the world, offering guests the option to watch a movie on a big screen while they received a hair cut, color, or style in a private studio setting.
Personal Training Studio Opens
In 2005, FX Studio’s CEO Nate Costa opened a small personal training studio next door to the salon and spa. At the time, Nate was just a personal trainer who had about 40 clients. When the opportunity arose, Nate expanded his fitness offerings and merged his personal training studio with the salon and spa next door, creating the fitness arm of FX Studios. With combined services of salon, spa, and fitness all under one roof, FX Studios became the area’s premier location for complete health, beauty, and performance fitness. Nutrition services were also added to give our guests the tools they need to eat right to increase their athletic performance and feel better from the inside out.
Our partnership with Under Armour begins
Nate’s wellness vision caught the eye of Under Armour Founder Kevin Plank, who asked Nate to bring his vision to Under Armour’s global headquarters in Tide Point and establish the company’s first on-site gym. The result was the creation of Under Armour’s on-campus fitness facility, the Under Armour Performance Center (UAPC) powered by FX Fitness, a state-of-the-art 35,000 square foot fitness mecca.
FX Physical Therapy Comes Aboard
At FX Studios, we embrace constant evolution, and are continually expanding to provide the greater Baltimore area with wellness services that can improve their lives. In 2015, FX Physical Therapy came aboard, helping guests and athletes prevent pain, recover from injury, and improve their performance on the field or in their sport.
Downtown Baltimore Location Opens
In 2016, FX Studios opened its second location within historic 10 Light Street in downtown Baltimore. From the marble columns to the signature Under Armour turf, this location offers an unparalleled workout experience right in the heart of the city, and includes all spa, salon, fitness, physical therapy, and nutrition services, plus a large Under Armour retail front.
